Walk ons from east Tennessee are just as good as anyone at covering 27 yard shanks out of bounds and pop up 35 yard kickoffs.
Yes, he can kick it 60 yards but can he kick it accurately? A lot of unknowns there. He's not much of a punter or at least he wasn't in high school. That leaves the Vols with Matt Darr manning the position. Not exactly inspiring.
I think we picked up a pretty good walk-on punter in the 2014 class. Aaron Medley probably won't be asked to make 60 yard FG's, but if he can hit anything inside 40 and get the KO's to the endzone we will be fine.
I think the main kicking recruiting site had him listed as the best kicker in the country. I think he can be as good as Wilhoit.
First post. Including a bowl win we will be 7-5. Landmark wins will be UF and USCe. Signs of improvements and things to come will be: hanging with Oklahoma until the final quarter standing toe to toe with Alabama but gradually yielding after halftime losing to Georgia due to blatant and critical freshman miscues, not because we were outplayed or inferior Vanderbilt, Kentucky and bowl games, the Vols exhibit their full offensive muscle, a preview to 2015 So it is written. So it shall be.
I think butch gets to 6 wins this year. Surely we can figure out a way to beat either UF or Mizzou at home. But then again...
