I guy who beats his wife expects me to believe him? If anything these outbursts only reinforce the belief he has anger issues.

Sure, It is probably true. But it only makes Smith look like an asshole.

 

Obviously the guy has lost it but even considering that I’m curious what he thinks he has to gain here. Maybe there’s a piece of his downfall that I’m unaware of and involves Herman.

I think he honestly feels like Herman is a worse person than him, and it isn't fair that Herman is doing fine and he isn't. It's something that narcissists do.

 

Herman paid (or helped pay) for Courtney Smith’s attorney fees, if I’m not mistaken.

 

Which in Smith's mind, is a betrayal. He sees Herman as someone who has betrayed his wife (cheated on) and betrayed Smith (paid for lawyer for Smith's wife). He sees this worse than anything he did. He probably doesn't think he really did anything wrong when beating his wife. She "deserved it."

 

Drugs are bad kids, especially on a Sunday afternoon.

 

He seems to think Herman somehow was involved in him getting fired. Seems unlikely.
