He also said something like "Why the hell do I have to watch 13 days of TV for a 3 hour movie?" Because someone told him he needed to watch some cartoons for this movie to make more sense.

No clue what you are talking about.

    EDIT:

If you are talking about watching Clone Wars and Rebels, I have watched about six episodes of Clone Wars and none of Rebels.

I am just making my observations from the movies.

The comments on that article are very telling. For instance, one says "Killing of the arch villain with no explanation of who he is". Then he is not the arch villain...

Snoke was used as a McGuffin, much like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. He advanced the story until he was no longer needed.

I believe a lot of people just got so wrapped up in how they thought it SHOULD go or WILL go that the surprise or unexpected turns shook them.

    I applaud the moves.

What’s telling is that this random thing got so much attention that the dude went back and updated the petition to basically say “my bad.”

Proportionally, there are more people who think all those things you said that liked the movie, than didn’t.

The new breed of Star Wars fans won’t be.

The Luke stuff doesn’t bother me, though. A real fight would have been a better ending, but he had to die either way.

I thought Luke went out perfectly. Certainly no one involved was worthy of killing Luke Skywalker

Well like I said the Arthurian legend fits perfectly here. First I would have made Snoke a very attractive female ( Morgan La Fey) and she would have seduced Kylo (Modred) who would not turn until mid 8 or episode 9. Kylo and Rey would be part of a new Jedi order (round table) with Rey bringing back Excalibur in episode 7.

Luke kills Snoke but is exhausted. An enraged Kylo attacks but is defeated by Luke. I cast the guy playing Poe as Kylo instead of the pretty boy goth emo from house of slitheren. Luke gets a glancing but mortal wound to the heart and struggles to keeps himself alive via the force. There is no med ship available but enter the carbonite machine. Luke is put into stasis and shipped back to the island ( Arthur's Avalon.)

Meanwhile in my version the FO and resistance are more evenly matched and have a final battle above Lukes island. While our heroes are off fighting the nuns take Luke, the books,R2D2 and CP30 down into the caverns. The Island is obliterated in the battle and our heroes assume Luke and everything else is destroyed.

Final scene: camera zooms in on flashing light with timer.

Timer says energy left: 1332 years 2 days 3hrs remaining.
Fire up old theme music and fade to black run credits.

Yeah I like his character and the monte carlo in space was visually appealing

With CF dying, they should have faded her out with Luke, and claimed he was projecting her as well, and she died in space.

Luke dying was fine. The direction they took his character was another story. From the first scene when he takes the light saber throws it over his should and walks off, to tickling Rey with a blade of grass telling her its the force, to even the brushing off his shoulder after the AT-ATs fired at him for 30 seconds, all of those things were completely out of Luke's character and turned his role into a pretty cheesy one. When I thought Leia died with space, I was pleased and content with her exit. Her using the force to return to the ship completely ruined the moment.

Good film...probably ranks 4th for me behind A New Hope, Empire and Awakens. I miss Han Solo, if you couldn’t tell.

As just a movie, wasn't bad. Great visuals and battle scenes. I enjoyed that aspect. As a stand alone like Rogue One, it would have been fine, but...

As a Star Wars movie about the Skywalker saga, I thought it sucked. Like Lyle, I think there were too many plot holes & heavy questions set up by Abrams in TFA that Johnson simply ignored. Seeing that he isn't doing IX, he ignored them for no good reason it seems. I get the impression that Abrams & Johnson didn't even speak prior to the writing of TLJ. There are no answers. I don't feel characters were advanced beyond what was developed in TFA. The new characters, sans Snoke, are in exactly the same place as they were at the end of TFA and some are much worse off in relation to character development after TLJ.

    Characters that remained the same:
Rey- She's still a strong force capable person with no training. We still know nothing about her background or who she is. Just like at the end of TFA.

Finn- he's in the same place too. A guy out for revenge against The First Order who is stopped from getting that revenge. Oh, and that deep connection with Rey? Nah. He has another wtf? type love interest that doesn't make sense. Don't even get me going on his & Rose's completely useless "mission" to the casino planet. And escaping on horse/dog creatures? Huh? That whole deal was a waste of storage space.

Leia- A horribly bad idea that saw her floating through open space that was very Mary Poppins-esque notwithstanding, her character is still in the same place as the end of TFA, even though she tragically won't be around to end the saga. Johnson's choice for no resolution to the fact that Carrie Fisher passed away a year ago is beyond puzzling to me ( and again, he's not doing IX). Maybe he's lazy & wants Abrams to deal with it?

Kylo Ren- he was an angsty teen brat bad guy at the end of TFA who was called back by Snoke to complete his training. At the end of TLJ, no mention of more training and he's STILL an angsty teen brat bad guy. Johnson totally ruined the perfect imagery of Kylo Ren going full dark side when the sun was snuffed out to power Starkiller Base (immediately followed by him killing Han) at the end of TFA. That was the perfect symbolism of Kylo's transition from hormonal unsure teenager wannabe bad guy to full on hard core man shit bad guy, but nah. Johnson kept Kylo exactly where he was at the end of TFA. Hell, he even had him kill his father figure just like he did Han, yet his character's arc has remained perfectly flat from the previous movie.

I'll address those that are much worse off as a result of Rian Johnson's "vision" later.

I might like it better in a second viewing knowing not to expect any answers to the questions that TFA went to great lengths to bring out.

Watching the movie a second time is more enjoyable, because your standards have already been shattered.
