Simmons and ESPN part ways

How much money can be attributed to any of them? They're all replaceable. The sports are what drive viewership, not the people talking about them.

 

Pilots are replaceable at Southwest but someone has to fly the damn plane.

 

This is a good point, it's relatively easy to find guys to make smarmy commentary on various sports issues.

I would say the journalists are the stewardesses and the actual games are the pilots.

Seems like it was more over inflated sense of self worth and jackassery than it was generating revenue, or a lack there of. Thought the latter probably made the former insufferable.

From everything I've read nobody was expecting Grantland to be a big financial success.

 

Yes, ESPN was hoping to get into the non-profit, charitable blog industry.
