Sweet 16 vs Purdue

Feels like a toss up at this point. I’ll be curious to see what Vegas thinks.

 

I think we’re in a better position than if we had blown Iowa out. Weird, I know, but it’s the Way of the Savage...

I just hope my theory that getting past the first weekend was the mental block for this team and next week will be less tight.

I think Purdue will win. Tennessee could, but it’s going to take a much more disciplined effort than we have seen the past three games.

 

Haarms is the most annoying player in college basketball

 

I want to believe this. I really, really do.

But, do you or anyone else feel like this team is playing it’s best basketball, right now?

Better, on a scale of 1-10, where 1 is “terrible” and 10 is “as close to perfect as they can play” - where would you guys rate our current level of play?

I’d say a solid 5, maybe a 6. In January, I’d have said it was an 8, with spurts of 9.

I think Barnes has ridden them too hard, and the edges are fraying.

 

You think the first half was a 5? What about the UK sect game?

 

I just mean, in general. But if you want me to break it down by halves:

Miss St. 1st: 7
Miss St. 2nd: 7
Kentucky 1st: 8
Kentucky 2nd: 9
Auburn 1st: 2
Auburn 2nd: 3
Colgate 1st: 5
Colgate 2nd: 5

This does not strike me as a team that’s peaking. If anything, they seem to be waning.

 

These next two games play out like the Kentucky and Auburn games in the SECT. Win an emotional game over Purdue then get skull [uck fay]ed by UVA.

 

I don't understand this way of looking at it. If we are beating tournament teams while grading out at 5, there is no celing I guess.

At the end if the day, winning us all that matters.

 

Today felt like we were dominant, got bored, fell victim to laziness and some bad calls, and then finally just said, okay, let’s win this thing.

I really like our chances against UVA, if both teams get there.

This. They’re dragging to the finish line and if they don’t wake up, the next game will be that finish line. I just hope that they’ve got one more streak of 7+ level performances in ‘em... three more games boys, just three more games.

 

I just hope a steady dose of Turner and Bowden can limit Edwards' effectiveness.

 

Will the 7’3 dude cause us problems? He seems like more of a finesse big guy than a banger. The bangers are the ones that tend to cause us problems.
