Inspired by the Law's Furniture debacle, post all of the good/funny stories about Phil. This needs its own thread.

    2005 was pretty funny.

He was rumored to have gone in a different high end furniture store in town and told either an employee or the owner (I can't remember which) that their prices were too high.

    Savage Orange Mr. Hot Take....

This is actually a positive story about Fulmer...

At the '97 O&W game during the fan day part of the festivities I went up to Fulmer to get an autograph for my mom (she was a big Fulmer fan) who was getting fairly old and couldn't make it out on the field. I told him this and he asked where we were sitting. He signed the photo to mom and about 30 minutes later found us at our seats and spoke with her for a bit before heading up to the press box. He may have faults and flaws but I'll always hold him in high esteem for doing that for my mother.

That said, I still don't want him to be the AD... Both for his sake and the University's sake...

I will always remember that he could not land a coaching job outside of Tennessee. Pre-Tennessee (ECU 1991) and Post-Tennessee (Kansas 2011). It only validates Majors theory how he got the Tennessee job in the first place.

Glad he got it. Enjoyed his first 10 years immensely.

The shoneys on alcoa hwy allegedly let him eat for free while he was coach. Once that ended they made him start paying and he quit going.

I have never eaten at a Shoney's. Doubt that will ever change.

hell I use to think shoneys was a nice place, but I also thought Ryan's with their honey butter and rolls was how the other half lived.

Most Steak n Shakes are open until at least midnight, if not 24 hours.

The one on Chapman highway was allegedly the preferred site for arbitration with disgruntled people who got sideways with players, etc.
