The media wants people to tune in/read/etc. They will twist a story to make it sell the most. Does that mean I have to believe that kind of shit? No. Thank you for the offer of the werewolf, though, I already own one. And thank you for telling me what I think. I would have never known otherwise.

I'm currently trying to trade it for video of the UK-UL dialysis center fight. If that falls through, I'll entertain offers.

In large part because of his color, fwiw.

So, the way to sell a story about a white guy is to bend over backwards to make them look good. The way to sell a story about a black man is to paint them as a villain. Pretty sure that says something about the media's consumers.

And not because he has won 14 majors, so far.

Well it all evens out then.

So you do think that is quite possibly the dumbest shit ever to want to hear that kind of story? I do.

Because it was novelty. The golf media spent Tiger's entire period of dominance practically in tears on television because nobody could compete with him, despite the fact their ratings kept going up as he crushed people. Gee, I wonder why that was?

Wait, did people on sports networks not give Roethlisberger hell over his allegations?

It is, but that doesn't make it any less accurate as an assessment of how the media and the public see the world.

Certainly. So unique you had to pay attention, even if you didn't give a shit about golf. Black dominating at Augusta? I've gotta see that.

I don't recall the hype starting at that point, but I could be wrong.

The worst thing anyone said was that he put himself in a bad spot and exercised poor judgment. With Kobe, they were breathlessly reporting that he would face life in prison if convicted.

Dominating, hell. A black man doing something there other than caddying, parking cars, or serving egg salad sandwiches is huge news.

If I tune in on Sunday and Tiger isn't in the hunt, I go do something I might give two shits about, instead.

Clearly, I hate whites, Latinos, Pacific Islanders, Indians, the Scotts, Spaniards, the Irish, and Asians.

Or, he's the greatest to ever play the game, and I prefer to see him play more than all of the rest combined.

Maybe I just took what you said the wrong way. You paint such a broad stroke with the word everybody. Figjam is a piece of garbage*, Roethlisberger is*, Kobe is*(if everything I have heard about each is true). I agree with the point JT5 made earlier, Tiger should have never gotten married to the woman. And the media is a collection of people who love to add fuel to the smallest fires. I took that word "everybody" to include me.

18 year old coming in and dominating at Augusta? Being proclaimed as the next big thing after working over the competition at every level he had competed at to date?

I've honestly never really believed that Kobe raped the girl. I honestly just though he cheated on his wife and the girl just went public for attention/money.

As far as Roethlisberger, I don't remember people just giving him a pass. I'd say people in general have a much more favorable opinion of Kobe than Big Ben.

I honestly don't recall a lot of excuses being made for Big Ben's dumb ass. Seems like they were fairly hard on him, but Kobe's much greater stardom definitely drew a lot more attention. Totally agree on the Bonds thing, but I do think the way he and Mark dealt with the media was also a contributing factor.

And he's a POS for having cheated on his wife, and for the yeas of acting like the unmitigated asshole / spoiled-brat that he truly is. And now, all of that shit is out the window, and all of the people in the media who were stepped on or ordered to tip-toe around him for fear of offending him, have seized on his own personal situation to (gleefully) give him his comeuppance.

And they're not doing it because he's a black guy - but because he's a black guy who is too often an insufferable [Penis] who for years demanded special treatment, and got it.

That he dates porn stars or whatever - I couldn't care less. But others do, and the media uses it to further embarrass him because they know that so many golf fans likely find it reprehensible.
