I think people empathize with the "helpless" animal far more than our obtuse, earth burning fellow humans. I just don't like the thought of a species going extinct, and this kind of stuff pisses me off.
Right? Kids dying left and right in grizzly fashions: meh. Grizzly bear shot after stalking kids? ASSEMBLE THE ARMY AND BRING ME THE SHOOTER'S HEAD
Species going extinct when there is no cause other than overhunting or loss of habitat because of man. I love nature, and 99.9% of all species have gone extinct. I get it. I see no reason to speed up that natural work, is all. It will be sad if there comes a day when a lot of the megafauna is only found in zoos or old movies.
My Facebook feed today - Person 1 - Outrage! Person 2 - Outraged that people are outraged over something I'm not outraged about! Person 3 - Can I not be outraged about both? Person 1/2 - No! Only what I am outraged about it important! Pick a side!
NO!..YES!...er...RAAAWR...oooomm. On a serious note, of course. Following the Dharma doesn't make you a robot. It just teaches you to be aware that you are angry and outraged, and thus help you control it.
You should see the video of it. The guy doesn't move on iota until his body is so burned it cannot support him anymore. He just falls over and keeps burning. He was protesting the treatment of Buddhists at the hands of the Vietnamese government.
iirc, there were several similar protests throughout that war. I have respect for all religions but such steps ... that is shocking
Come now, conditioning? Bit of a stretch don't ya think? Take away all and let's just see if he's resourceful enough to make it through the night. You know, big time game hunter and all shouldn't be an issue
Ya, dying in a sacrificial manner and celebrating martyrdom is pretty messed up. What kinds of sickos would celebrate that kind of imagery?
