When did you know Dooley was not and could not be the guy?

    Goodness, some people are using Spurrier's early years at SCe as comparison.

    Rucker being one of them. What a fool. Spurrier didn't have near the starting talent that Dooley does.

    Spurrier didn't have near the talent, plus he had a great head coaching resume. Anyone using that comparison is a flat out idiot.

    Spurrier got SC to a bowl his first season despite having to boot some of the most talented players in the preseason. That's a better than average season for the Gamecocks. He also got wins over UT (in Neyland) and Florida. Those wins were absolutely historic for their program. Dooley needed help from the refs to avoid UT's first 8-loss season and first winless conference season. He also ended a 26 year streak and lost to one of the worst teams in the NCAA.
