This ties back in with the Jim Harbaugh thread in that I'd never considered this question until I read an article on the Harbaugh situation. http://grantland.com/features/the-curious-case-of-jim-harbaugh/ I think the above is completely on point. We recently saw how much Sean Payton was worth to the Saints. Was he worth as much as Drew Brees? I think he actually is. I think Belichick is worth to the Pats than Brady, and I think it'd be hard to advance an argument to the contrary. And yet these coaches aren't getting paid anywhere near what the QBs are making. The market correction has to be on its way.
Would be interested to see more numbers. How does the difference in pay between elite QBs and average QBs compare to the same gap with coaches?
Coaches salaries range from 3m-8m. QB salaries -- excluding rookie contracts (which Kaepernick and Wilson are still under) -- appear to range from 3m-22m. I tried to look at just starting QBs, but after about the first 15, the rest are pretty much crap and I would have to look to see if they started last year. Here is a listing of QB salaries: http://overthecap.com/top-player-salaries.php?Position=QB And coaching salaries: http://coacheshotseat.com/NFLCoachesSalaries.htm
Plenty of hall of fame coaches have had shitty records at different stops . Same generally cannot be said for hall of fame qbs.
Plenty of mediocre coaches have been taken along for the ride to Super Bowls, too. Probably say the same for QBs, though I can't speak to the comparative numbers. It's also easier to judge a QB I think. In hindsight, I mean.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Is this really a question for a serious answer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
