Like orange pants, remodeling a practice facility, checking for mold in brand new walls, matching the orange on the helmets to the jerseys or having hours long conversations with staff over black cleats or white cleats?
Placement of the garbage cans on the practice field and the way the huddle faces at certain times of the day. I'm not kidding on either.
the players and recruits are into brick by brick, which is what counts for me. Of course winning is the key, but what may be useless schtick to you, is motivation for the players to be part of a rebuilding process. During a huddle or timeout, you'd be surprised at the silliness, corniness, or whatever that can motivate 19 yr olds to finish off the opponent.
show me the equivalent stuff spouted by nick saban, steve spurrior, chip kelly, or jim harbaugh. or are those coaches just dumb to not implimenting bricks and hard hats into their daily coaching?
They all motivate in their own ways and do it on a daily basis. Plus, Butch sucks anyway and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as some of the top college coaches in NCAA history.
They might think it's lame, but there's different kinds of lame. If he's got their respect it's probably lamely endearing. I guess it doesn't concern me. The field will tell it all, and the slurpers are gonna slurp no matter what they're served.
