If you ignore the garbage points at the end, UT was whipped by Georgia State by more than 2 touchdowns at home in the season opener. I am interested in your definition of catastrophic in this context.
If y’all want a real slap of reality take a scroll down Nate Hodges timeline on Twitter as he is rewatching the game and breaking it down right now.
Andy Kelly, Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Casey Clausen, Tyler Bray, etc. These are all TN QB’s who never had a HC feel the need to publicly prop them up as the starter. Nobody else reads Pruitt’s comments as such, even in hindsight? They clearly don’t trust him to throw the ball down the field, and maybe - just maybe - there was a reason why no other OC would let him make checks at the line, prior to Chaney.
It’s catastrophic right now, today. If we’re going to get the holy shit kicked out of us for the rest of the year, then let’s make it at least count for something by salvaging some good in getting the young guys some much-needed experience. If it’s going to suck, and it is, then get all of the suck out at once. How much worse can it get, from here?
Can you imagine going out there against Ga St with a fresh season before you and Gavin got walk off that field knowing the writing is on the wall?
They spent almost as much prep on BYU and UF - yes, UF, our fourth game - than Ga St. in the past two weeks.
I don’t think Pruitt has been home yet. If he has been, it was just long enough to shower and pack a bag. TIFWIW.
If Pruitt is fired after this season, it won’t be by Fulmer, because he’ll have been fired days before.
