i'm pretty shocked it's been as bad as it has.

 

guys record at oregon was amazing. only lost like 3 times in conference. all to top 5 teams. absolutely obliterated any team that was mediocre to bad as teams should do. always got his team up for bad teams.

 

But honestly, it was very gimmicky and wouldn't work in the SEC. It just wouldn't. He'd do good, but not Oregon good.

 

it would have worked 13 years ago before everyone started doing it. you saw how alabama had problems with manziel. let's not forget that kelly regularly kicked the shit out of pete carrol's usc teams. also blew out an undefeated florida state team in the playoff. hardly teams with sucky talent. and he did it with 3 star guys. they did many times have issues with teams with elite talent, but that was mostly with the early teams. the later teams closed that gap. give him 4 and 5 star talent 13 years ago and he wins NCs no problem in the sec. not so much today.
