I would argue a dead pull hitter only hasnt mastered his craft and is playing into the hands of the pitcher and shift
It isn't a fear. We are seeing the culmination of an entire generation of pitchers that were taught nothing but velo. Command and movement have taken a backseat and we have an uber amount of throwers.
It’s also organizational for a lot of these teams. I said it earlier but it drives me nuts how many times you see a guy get up 0-2 and try and fail to nibble until he’s run the count full. I get trying to get a guy to chase one, but don’t throw away your advantage junking your curve into the dirt or a foot off the plate three times to do it. That goes for the catcher calling it that way too
I’ve long despised the 0-2 waste a pitch crowd. There’s never a time a hitter is more defensive than at that point. Make a quality pitch, the damn odds can’t get any more in your favor.
Don’t injure yourself patting yourself on the back for understanding the value of the sacrifice bunt.
I mean, at least Acuna is actually a great ball player. But nearly every Braves fan I know was convinced Heyward was the second coming of Willie Mays. It a pretty valid joke
Card’s thoughts on Braves fans and Chipper and that Hooters waitress from years ago on VN is still one of my favorite takes ever
