Ahem... They played like shit the majority of the game and STILL had a chance to win it on the last play. I'm not sure what you think this close loss against an undefeated team really says about them. We have no idea how good State could be, and LSU didn't play anywhere near their potential.
2nd in the west, 3rd overall, based on performance from week 1. Ole Miss looked shitty that week. Miss St. didnt play anyone so it was hard to rank them. Should have probably had Bama above LSU, but oh well. Still not sold on Auburn. Had TAMU above them. i stand by where I had them. They played like crap and still had a chance to win it.
They looked like a JV squad at times. If the freshman QB looks that good going forward, LSU is still really good.
They lost three games in the league last year and they lost their QB and the best WR corps in the nation, among others.
Good enough to beat LSU in Baton Rouge in a night game. Which is something, unless LSU just isn't that good.
2 of those games were by a combined 6 points, and the third loss was to Bama. And they beat auburn by two TDs. Get outta here with that. Their QB looked fine and their defense is solid. They'll be okay. Saying they're not very good seems a little premature.
