If his goal was to be a childish hissy fit throwing little [itch bay], he nailed it.

 

I still think part of it was he played the role in this one exactly as he was instructed to. He wasn't supposed to be mature evil yet.

 

I think that's exactly what they wanted to portray, he's a selfish, immature brat. You're supposed to hate him.

 

I'm also revising my prediction.

I think he's going to have to come face to face with Jedi anakin in 8, not vader.

 

Mission accomplished.

Although, I never hated Vader. But I always cheered for the heels in 'rasslin' too.

I think they wanted to make a conflicted villain that you learned to hate. He's a shit head. Vader was different, he's a guy that fell and redeemed himself.

 

I can't help but think Ren will turn back to the light to fight Snoke in Episode 9. I hate him, I hope he stays a sith and dies tripping over his impractical light saber.

 

Agree with all of this. I hope he doesn't turn, but it's setting up for it.

I don't think he gets redeemed. He had the chance and went full on evil at the end of Force Awakens.

 

I don't think he does either. Episode 7 was the one where they were going to hit the tropes, the next two probably won't have that.

I am pretty firmly convinced that they have to start thinking about what they are going to do with Episodes 10, 11, and 12 soon too

 

As kptvol said earlier, I want Chewbacca to rip his arms off and then beat him to death

 

I think he becomes badder than vader and stands victorious at the end of 9.
