No, because there would be a legitimate civil war break out if anyone attempted it.

A lot of politicians are loudmouths, this is the first one tweeting unfiltered

The Globe actually corrected their 1/512 stat. It’s actually 1/1,024

Eh, 1/64 to 1/1024, they can't be conclusive.

Basically, if she were Cherokee, she wouldn't come close to getting any casino money.

Exactly, you can not have any native genesdetected and still have had a native ancestor. Those genes may or may not have not been passed on.

The point is that all the mocking of her ancestry was dead wrong. She didn't ever claim to be full blooded.

I suspect most of us can fall withing those stats. Harvard here we come.

No, a lot of people who think they have native ancestry do not. Also, Harvard requires more than that for any weight. As does most every school. So far as I know, Warren got no special consideration.

Often native ancestry was the explanation for darker complexions or hair in a European family, when more often it was an African splash in the gene pool. And thst is reflected in these gene testing company's data.

I was always told growing up I was 1/32nd Cherokee (and why is it always Cherokee, not some other nation?). Anyway, not a stitch in me according to my DNA test. No african either, which greatly surprised me, as long as my family has lived in the south.

So you are saying that this test result backs up her claims:

it is true that while Warren was at U. Penn. Law School she put herself on the “Minority Law Teacher” list as Native American) in the faculty directory of the Association of American Law Schools, and that Harvard Law School at one time promoted Warren as a Native American faculty member.

A lot of people are told that, and it often isn't true.

I'm saying she wasn't hired or given promotions based on that. I haven't heard Penn comment, so I would like to hear more about the minority faculty thing. Though I don't think it is a big deal.

I was couneed as a student from tennessee despite having been born in idaho. Is that a material deception? No, I don't think so. I went to HS and undergrad in tennessee, and don't know anyone in idaho.

Not as incendiary as race stuff, but I could see how it could come about without it being some deliberate exploitation of a status.

I'd be curious to hear what native groups think. I bet they don't like it and also don't like how Warren has been treated at the same time.

It is not a big deal. It is simply a political talking point. She made a mistake claiming she was a minority and instead of fessing up and moving on continues to attempt to justify it. Nothing new in the world of politics; just fodder for her critics.

There are plenty of people who disapprove of any mixing of races. If her mother identified as being of native ancestry, that isn't white enough by some people's standards.

Also, Oklahoma has a history of native-white friction.

And also, she is of native ancestry. Now it isn't "enough."

Is she a Minority (Native American) as she has claimed?

Asked what made her mother’s family distinctly Native American, Warren laughed and replied, “It was exactly what I said.’’ Asked again, she responded, “One side was Cherokee and the other side was Delaware. . Do the test results show that?
