Saw someone find numbers from last year on merchandising...the extra revenue split would have equated to about 1.2 million more from Nike.
Wow, sounds good. I like the higher merchandise percentage. If we start winning, there are a lot of dormant fans that will be looking to upgrade their apparel.
I'd assume so too. I think they commonly negotiate things like that. I believe the deal Memphis had with Nike a few uears ago decreased if Calipari left. And then he did...
I hate Nike. Most uncomfortable shoes ever, imo. Most of their apparel is made from material that reminds me of 1970s leisure suits.
Yup. Guarantees might now be as much, but upside is tremendous. I've emailed with two or three folks that know immensely more about this than me, and everyone is thrilled with it.
I've never had a good experience with Nike shoes. Every pair I've bought has had the sole separate from the shoe. I've owned 1 pair of Under Armour and they lasted almost 8 years.
I'm an Asics guy for everyday wear, but the black/white Adidas Falcon is far & away the best coaching shoe ever made.
Seems like only positives, then. I think it makes sense to go shorter than longer with the state of the athletic program. It could still look undervalued (like Alabama's does now) by the last couple years, but having more of the deal tied into merchandise % should offset it somewhat.
