Then change the housing and zoning laws that create the huge housing cost by limiting supply and production.
There are plenty of houses, they sit empty because they are the 2nd, 3rd, or fourth homes of the owners and they use them as investments. They have no motivation to rent them short of a high enough rate to filter out any "undesirables," which is pretty much everyone. Sometimes they put them on Air BnB. The number of empty and unused space in major cities is mind-boggling. But they can write it off as a "loss" if no one pays their high rents.
It has its moments, but I can't think of a whole ton of places that would be better to work at without needing a degree. Granted, I'm not a picker. I get paid nearly 18/hr, work three days(nights) a week and I've been trained on how to drive a forklift and other machinery, will likely be getting a certificate in May for about 75 bucks total out of pocket for non-destructive testing, and if that doesn't work out, I'm gonna try for some sort of IT degree or certificate. Usually the horror stories are from temp workers, because they actually get [uck fay]ed over benefits wise, and they get less leeway in regards to making rate. But some of them are also just terrible workers.
Are they really bringing 25k jobs to the hq sites? Or are many of them already filled and bringing people in? Sounds like the latter.
They do drink some coffee. 12th south area has 3 or 4 coffee shops within a block. I cream everything if I drink it so it tastes same to me
