Well. I'm posting from the hospital. My wifes cervical fluid is leaking and she'll be in the hospital till she delivers. She's only at 28 weeks so it's scary. Hopefully she wont go into labor soon. Any advice would be appreciated
I'll be thinking of the four of you, Droski. I know it is a scary time. Do the doctors have a target at this time...or just as long as possible?
my twins were born at 25.5 weeks and I can assure you that, while scary, technology and medicine are incredible. The statistics are improving daily for long term prognosis. In fact, if I didn't tell you, you'd never know mine were premature. My son is an ADHD addled goofball with a couple of sensory input quirks, but that's true of every young male I've ever met.
Thanks guys. They gave her a steroid shot and apparently it takes 48 hours for that to work and if you can make it that 48 hours the odds increase significantly. Her fluid is leaking pretty slowly so they say it's possible she might be able to last another 5 weeks in the hospital, but they are pretty vague.
the 28 week point is a huge deal for lung development and the shots will help that along. You're close to out of the woods for the huge lung issues.
