People sharing that chart all over the place as some massive indictment on the US response bugs me. Using confirmed cases across that time period is not a great measure. We're going the wrong way now, but that really understates what we accomplished during our lockdown.

We were more or less the behind the scenes guy in WW1 and then quickly ended it once we need in.

 

Germany had shot their wad by the time we got there with their spring offensive in 1918. We did some nice work, but much of the heavy lifting was done by then.
