This is a massively important issue because I think we all support greater freedom, but I fear you are correct. I have no idea as to the best approach.

When pundits and media prop up a virulent homophobe who posted bestiality porn on Facebook after DOMA was overturned and lost a mayoral bid against Pete (losing his own district) as the expert on South Bend issues, you know they've lost their [uck fay]ing minds. It tells me Pete is winning and they are scared shitless. Look up Henry Davis Jr. This guy's a winner.

discourse is easy. There is no point in attempting it when people make stuff personal. That article was more of a personal target than his stances.
2 nights ago I mentioned I agreed with a specific commentator and was met with "that's scary" and "not surprising". When I asked for honest questions about my opinion to have "discourse", there was none. So don't whine about lack of discourse, when often this other perspective you are bragging often isn't capable without pitching a fit.

Right, so I don't think that is at all what was being said in the article. I don't think anyone is out there saying "I am jealous of Pete Buttigieg." That may be your conclusion as to why they feel the way they do, but that isn't their perspective.

 

The Candace Owens thing? I told you, she's a shit stirrer of the Ann Coulter mold, saying things for shock value rather than much substance. What's to discuss, her praise of Hitler or silly race baiting movement of the "Democratic Plantation"? She's not really worth discussing.

 

This is an interesting take. It is identity politics playing out because one aspect of his identity isn't providing cover? Sounds like identity politics NOT playing out?

 

The true dogma is that smart white males is the source of all oppression in western society.

Pete sounds and looks just like every one of those, so he’s bad by association of his identity.

Yang is just a little too smart and white, too.

 

No, that's the lazy dismissal of the criticsims. The real objection, they state (not me), is they see Buttigieg as a phony and disingenuous, lacking substance. He's a person, again, they argue, with a well crafted image, but lacking depth, the type who will sell others out once they are not deemed useful. The "they hate white people", though makes them easier to ignore.
