Considering our position from which we were hiring, Barnes is a home run. I mean, we fired a coach due to ncaa sanctions, hired a floundering guy that left amid much controversy, then we hired a guy that lasted one year because of ncaa sanctions. From that position, the fact that we hired a guy that has even coached in division one is amazing.

 

Barnes wasn't the guy we hired after Cuonzo left.

Don't agree. Look at the roles Cornish, Austin, Cofer, Thompson, and Davis are going to play for their teams this year. The narrative that he recruited poorly will be debunked this year.

 

What exactly was the problem, then? I think we would all agree it wasn't going particularly well for two and a half years.

Seems unlikely anyone else's players would have much of a role this year. Are those guys going to be any good is the more important question. To me, I didn't see him recruiting to a level that would have him match the strength of his last team, which he didn't impress me with anyway.

 

He doesn't know how to coach offense and doesn't care to hire a coach who can

 

i'm not saying that isn't an issue, but the bigger problem was that there were games where they just didn't show up at all. several of them every season. they didn't get embarrassed in the big ones usually, but there were at least 3 or 4 losses every year against crap opposition where they were just complete spectators.

 

It felt like the team didn't try until January.

 

It felt like the team had the easy parent watching over things at all times.

 

Can we all agree when uni says the race card is bogus that it is indeed bogus?

No. Either you think Uni is an authority on "racism" or you don't. At least be consistent.
