I'll just start with this one:28 - Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." This happened. 24 - Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. At one time you couldn't even show a man and a woman in the same bed, Lucy ring a bell? And just this week the Supreme Court ruled that you could even make threats on Social media. 11 - Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. You really doubt this? 17 - Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks. So the government doesn't control schools? It's not the local school board when it comes to money. 0 - Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." So people aren't trying to get away from the Constitution? 21 - Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. Ever watch mainstream news? TV and movies do they or do they not influence people and have they not changed people? 31 - Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. Let me qualify first, there are some good History teachers out there that teach History but there are many more out there that teach revised History. 27 - Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." Even members of this board have called religion a crutch and discredit the Bible. Does Communism have to show its face to make change? If you came flat out and told people that we were changing our government you would have out right revolt. I'll just stop at these few and hope you guys look at a bigger picture from different angles.
I have to go in a second but I will start with the first and try to look at the others later. Prayers in schools - Nobody has ever stopped me from praying in school. There is no rule against it. As long as there are finals there will be praying in school.
This is a perrfect representation of Cold War logic, i.e. communism is everywhere that change is happening, even if we can't see it. Changing social mores, which has been happening since the beginning of time, isn't some indicator of communist ideology, and our government has been "changing" since the beginning of the Republic. It's as if there's this expectation that the US reached some kind of nirvana perfection by the 1950s and things would never change, ideally, unless the dastardly communists/liberals secretly undermined everything. More specifically, though, here are some responses: 24. Allowing unpopular/controversial free speech seems to be more in line with promotion of democracy than communism. 11. One world government? Where is this being advocated, outside of some conspiracy sites? 17. What communist goals are being taught in schools? School boards don't have money or budgets? 30. The Founding Fathers are still pretty revered and readily referenced in pretty much every political campaign. In fact, I think it might be wiser to take them a little bit down from their current deification status, but they certainly aren't discredited. I have no idea what you mean about people trying to get away from the Constitution, unless you mean something like Citizens United, but I do know that line has been used by American politicians, people, etc. since the late 18th century. 31. US History is a required class in, probably, every high school in America. Good luck trying to find more than a handful that teach Russian history. 27. The US is a very religious society, especially in comparison with most of the rest of Western society. The fact that some people aren't into religion, including on this site, isn't a reflection of communist infiltration. Most can simply use their brain and decide for themselves. As I said, this really isn't a communist warning list, it's a desire for the status quo of the time, or a specific set of beliefs, and then assigning any change on some nefarious plot, namely communism as that was the biggest bogeyman of the time.
Perfect response. While I think that our hostility towards the USSR was absolutely appropriate. Much of the hysteria was unneeded. And while I, as a modern day conservative, don't agree with everything that has gone down since 1963, the vast majority of it was needed. The 50's were a great time for sure -for wasp males. And the changes that rank and file liberals wanted and got had nothing whatsoever to do with a desire for this country to go red.
I'm fine with and actually find it interesting with people getting together and living in communal communities. I just don't think it should be forced.
Well we are 100% in agreement then. Tennessee has an interesting history of communal settlements, with all but one of them eventually failing. Technicolor Amish still going strong.
The Farm? It's had it's ups and downs, but it's not going away anytime soon. It's actually a neat place. There are certainly some interesting regional neighbors right thereabouts.
Is that the thing near Summertown? I drove around near there a few days ago. That wasn't the way I was going though.
That is school (i.e. government) sponsored prayer in school, as prohibited explicitly in the First Amendment. No one can stop an individual from praying in school. In fact, schools provide space for Muslims to observe their daily prayers, meeting spaces for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Meet at the Flag Pole, etc., etc.

So, you found some random stories about schools overstepping their bounds, two of which are being sued as a result and this is evidence? They are stories because schools aren't supposed to be doing this and they are unusual enough to merit media attention. Hell, the ACLU, that hated liberal bastion, is suing in favor of voluntary prayer in the fourth story. This doesn't change the fact that voluntary school prayer is absolutely allowed in the schools and, if it is denied by the school, then you can sue for a violation of your rights. I mean, I can find stories of police violating the fourth amendment all the time, but it doesn't mean that we are eliminating due process.
