Some unpopular views I hold:

Top Gun is the most overrated movie from the 80s or possibly any decade. I get that planes are cool, but it's a very shallow film.

John Wayne was not a great actor. While I like some of his movies, most are overrated. He was a bit ahead of Elvis but not by leaps and bounds.

 

I tried watching Top Gun again not long ago. I couldn't get through it.

 

I like Eastwood way better than Wayne, but he still had some really good movies.

 

John Wayne never seemed to be acting. He seemed like the guy that would get drunk and whip your ass.

 

I agree, and I occasionally find a new one I like from time to time. I think he's a lot like Stallone. Cast correctly, Stallone is very good. Neither have/had much range.

 

One of Wayne's best movies was The Cowboys. But yes, he doesn't act so much as just be John Wayne.

No mention of Indiana Jones, Raiders specifically(smh), but Temple and Last Crusade were good too.

 

Wait, you don't get, or get but don't understand why their not listed as good movies?
