didn't list those, but that's fair. Space Cowboys and "Get Off My Lawn" man are both better too.

Do we.count "American Sniper"? That movie was close to awful.

Gran Turino was a pretty good movie.

This has really snowballed. I didn't say John Wayne was better. The farthest I've gone is to say it's very subjective and you could certainly make the argument for some of JW's movies being better than what you'd mentioned.

This could be said for a lot of "great actors". Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington basically play themselves for every role. Sometimes they extend out and play a slightly more exaggerated version of themselves but it's always the same essentially.

I didn't in any way say the John Wayne movies aren't watchable. I just said almost all of Eastwood's movies are better than almost any of Wayne's. Eastwood is a better actor. As someone said, almost all John Wayne characters are John Wayne with a different look, but same shtick.

Unforgiven was such a cool Western. Just wanted to say that.

Doesn't get any better than Munny killing little Bill

Then his warning to treat Ned right

Obviously not to the same extent as Wayne, but you can also say that about Eastwood.

I put True Grit against anything, although I'm a fan of the Sergio Leone Eastwood, too (I don't like a lot of the highly regarded stuff Eastwood directed, like Unforgiven. It drags.) Liberty Valence is also very good, as is Stagecoach. I always thought Searchers was overrated because of the racial themes.

I always thought Quiet Man was an under appreciated Wayne film, too.

Never "got" The Matrix. OK action, I guess, but didn't think it was some great work of creative genius like some other people did. Never saw the two sequels.
