It isn't about winning or losing sometimes. It's about what is right. If Democrats were simply about control and power, they'd have dropped it a long time ago.
All politicians are about control and power. I can't immediately point to a single democrat OR republican that, at their very essence, isn't a partisan hack. There isn't any middle ground any more. No moderates to actually make the compromises necessary for government to really work. Both parties would gladly and without a minutes remorse burn the country to the ground if it meant they won whatever pissing contest they were involved in.
What's "right" about increasing legislation and implementing yet MORE regulation against law abiding citizens? Criminals aren't going to abide by anything Obama (or any other President) does anyway.
This argument is so fallacious, it is amazing it is often repeated. Which laws do criminals abide? Should we repeal all laws then?
FWIW, I follow your point. The president has his issues, certainly, but to a lot of people everything he says and every action is disingenuous. While I may not be a fan, I'm not going to automatically blast him at every turn. That's why the VN politics forum exists. He very well may haven been faking the emotion during the speech, but when it comes to that specific situation and slain children I'll give him the benefit.
Laws exist to govern the law abiding, who make up the majority (hopefully the vast majority) of the population.... There are quite a few things I would probably do if it weren't illegal to do them.
Politicians do what their money tells them to do. Choosing GOP or DEM is just your preference where the money is spent.
It is, but it's a great political sell. Think of how much money can be wasted on the program. It's a congressional wet dream.
Think of what it would take to get the technology on the 300 million guns that are thought to be in the country.
