It used to be a sweet little dividend stock.

 

Yup. Just crazy, almost unbelievable it where it is now.

 

GE did ok in medical capital equipment and is still everywhere. Wonder if That was sold or struggling

 

Are there anymore dividend stocks? I know a lot of companies don't (or didn't) give out dividend.

everyone claims they are successful. generally what happens is they do fine as long as the market is going up and then something unexpected happens and they blow up.

 

market was up 20 percent last year. valuations are just catching up. i'd bet it's up 7-10% by the end of the year. also we were long overdue for a 10 percent correction. longest in american history without one btw.

 

I've done returns for a few. For what they profited, it seemed like a major headache to me.

 

tons. i use VYM for smaller accounts.

 

much of their earnings came from GE capital and then they shut that down during the financial crisis. my mom's friend inhereted $500k of ge stock and has ridden it all the way down. sad.

 

yeah i have a friend who does that for hedge funds. he makes a nice return, but it's a bunch of small profits. he can just do it thousands of times in huge size. the small guy can't replicate that.
