He’s been going on about it for days, has had staff doctor NOAA forecasts, and was apparently upset enough about it that he or someone went heavy-hand on NOAA to get them to throw the NWS under the bus.

He might not be fixated. He looks that way - and given the stunts pulled above, it’s a bad look.

There are reports that he is fixated on this. Those could be false. Do you have evidence that’s these specific reports are false? Given the public evidence that he is is still taking about and enough so that NOAA pulled what it did last night - it is more logical to conclude he is fixated on this than it is to assume he’s not.

It's like believing that Dooley was a great coach, because he wore orange pants.

And then when all the shit came out after:

"I mean, where were the signs this was happening while he was here?"

    and my favorite

"Why are we still taking about what he did?"

anybody heard about the scandal involving the small airport near his Scottish resort? was going to close due to insufficient traffic, but in 2017 got a contract to refuel us military aircraft at a higher rate than at a military installation. that contract looks to be extended to 2024. it is the difference between millions in the red and millions in the black. without that airport, Trump's Scottish resort would really be hurting.

If Trump is thumbing his nose at the Alabama thing, then it's actually worse as now there are super pissed off NWA people mad at the leadership of the NOAA and these are people which matter.

they're professionals, they will endure this indignity.

They will endure, but the anti-scientist tenor of this administration is real and taking its toll. So, no, this one incident won't kill anything, but its a part of the ever-present conflict between the scientists trying to do their work and Trump sycophants pushing his anti-science agenda.

yes, but if trumpism is what is elected, then the American people are actively spitting on science as a way to make decisions and weigh risks. and we will suffer for it as long as it takes to relearn that science and objectivism matter. you see this on the left too.

Yeah, Trump doesn’t have a monopoly on telling science to go [uck fay] itself when he doesn’t like the answer.

Yeah both sides do that and is just part of the game.

I don't think this is a "both sides do it" sort of situation. It's something unique in terms of degree to this administration. The fact that a head of the Commerce Dept., "allegedly", threatened to fire anyone who contradicted Trump on the Alabama thing and Hurricane Dorian is certainly new ground.

You can [uck fay] with a lot of things - but don’t [uck fay] with the weather, man.
