How? Heat and air is like $350 a month, and daycare is $850.

We don't do crap, and spend at least $2k on necessities.

We got 3.125% through the VA last month. Very happy with that. Like you, the timing of it has the house paid off right before I retire.

Forgot to take into account insurance since it's automatically deducted.

Heat/AC/water/Natural gas come in at a total of $300.
    Food: $400.
All insurances including car total $700/mth.
    Gas: $100.
    Phones: $100.
    Internet: $50.
    Netflix/Spotify: $30.

So on average, $1700 without mortgage.

$400 for food? What the heck do you guys eat, PBJ for every meal?

$400 is a high estimate. We eat out maybe once a month. Buy in bulk from Costco and only have 1 kid who's about to be 1, so he doesn't eat that much.

About 2.2 is the long term rate.

I have one of those shitty municipality retirement plans where they pay you every month until you die.

I would have guessed closer to 2.5, but that makes sense.

I know. I just laugh when people complain about how much their kids cost. They're easily preventable.
