I just can't see any situation in life where I would buy a random 18 year old kid beer and think it's ok.
The age is the only issue here. The random isn't an issue, unless any of you think it would be inappropriate for any of you guys to meet me somewhere to grab a bite, drink a couple beers, and talk UT sports even now that I'm 23. The car was a a byproduct of the age issue. We would have drank the beer anywhere else if it wasn't illegal. So the final part and only real issue is the age, which is about as arbitrary as it gets.
Now I'm legitimately concerned that you believe that age is arbitrary in this situation. With that attitude, you might be the next Sab.
I'm saying that the legal drinking age is arbitrary. Is this incident okay in countries where the legal drinking age is 18 or below?
It would still be drinking a beer with an 18 year old in a car. But I'll play. Let's say the legal age to drink is 18. Would it be normal for someone in their mid twenties to split a six pack with a 15 year old in his car?
Not the same scenario. What responsibilities are gained at age 15? I can join the military at 18. I'm a legal adult at 18. I'm old enough to drive the 2.5 hours to Nashville by myself, even the 6 hours to Cleveland, but not old enough to drink a couple beers? It's nonsense.
Yeah but you're drinking beers with a 30 year old child molester in his car and you've never met him.
