Ensemble as of this afternoon with commentary by the "Cranky Weather Guy"

 

We might end up with 5 named storms at once in the Atlantic, if this thing in the Gulf strengthens. Meanwhile, there is a very powerful category 5 typhoon about to ass-blast the Philippines and East Asia.

 

I’d be more of a Jon boat on the floodwaters type. Boat is in Knoxville though so I’ve got no watercraft available. I don’t think this storm will bring enough rain to cause any issues for me though.

 

Hard to say, at this juncture.

 

I'm a 1,000 feet above sea level, if it floods around here, we've got serious issues

 

Where my house is it would take far more than any projection I’ve seen to cause any real concern. Power being out for a few days is the biggest concern, but really only because cause it would be miserable.

Got 3 handguns and a Weatherby mark 5, and a rocky hill [ussy pay] can survive.

 

It's [uck fay]ing bizarre how everyone I have talked to in NC has mentioned their firearms regarding this storm.

 

The last ferry has run from Ocracoke Island, NC. Something like 100 people have elected to stay behind. I looked it up and they have about a 19 ft dune on the Atlantic side, but the town itself is low-lying and may experience 3 to 6 feet (or more) of storm surge, depending how close the storm makes landfall.

But one I keep hearing.

 

When we moved into my house, insurance company asked if I wanted flood insurance. My house is on the top of a 100ft hill. If we flood here, then insurance is the least of my worries.

 

Having been to that island, I can't imagine being there during a hurricane.

 

Any outerbank island would be suicide to stay on.

 

First concern is loading two of each animal into your ark

 

They just know you and I will pay to rebuild those million dollar beach homes that they will then rent out 6 months a year.
