    It would unquestionably make the top club competition worse and significantly hurt the domestic leagues. There’s really no upside outside of
    ensuring profitability for a few people.

    How does it hurt domestic leagues? That's what I don't understand. I get how the Champions League gets screwed, but I don't get the domestic league angle.

    Champions League participation is based on domestic league performance. If there’s no spots there’s nothing for most of the clubs to compete for

    The interesting part is the Real Madrid president said all 12 clubs signed contracts last week and are binding. But, he seems like a reasonable dude who will understand the predicament with the English clubs and their fans while holding no financial consideration over their head.
