Granted, humans evolved from a nuclear holocaust in Roddenberry's vision.

The never ending question that will rise from any form of society is, what do you do with people who do not want to help themselves?

Is that a healthy normal condition? I don't think it is. It's a symptom of a mental problem.

So how long to evolve minus a massive global trigger event?

    I don't think we're that far away.

What do you do with them?

Do you force them to have treatment?

have you seen the Tower of Pisa? Profoundly disappointing IMO. Ornate, definitely leaning, but just not very tall.

I don't think we'll ever get there but then again that's what drives us to the moon and all of our other technologies and advancements too.

I can't say without knowing whether it actually is a symptom of a mental problem, and the nature of that problem.

I think it's entirely normal. We're condition to do as little as possible to get by in nature.

OK. Then force people to buy your version of morality. I'm all for you convincing people to carry their own and contribute.

Not sure we're conditioned, but we intrinsically conserve energy.

and it would avoid the lesson from the sorriness that got it where it is. the lesson is of more value than the repair.

    You're right

Tenacious D The law is of supreme importance, or no importance

So, everyone who can work and contribute, should do so. I think we're all agreed.

    Follow-up questions:

    1. Does socialism generally inspire people to work more, or less, or can that even be determined with any accuracy?

    2. What to do with / about those instances where people can work / produce and simply don't? How does socialism handle this dilemma?

Controlling production is socialisms biggest stumbling block.
