Love grappa. Definitely an acquired taste for some

These are all the rage in California apparently.

    Pappy Van Winkle for me*.

*I've actually only had it once. I can't even play snob for a single post. Just not my MO.

Anything with rye is popular. I think people just like the name

My cousin lives in San Francisco. He was in town a few months ago and order a sazerac. The bartender had no clue what he was talking about (and probably didn't have absinthe, so it wouldn't have mattered), so he ordered an old-fashioned instead. Apparently those are all the rage too. So clearly it's more than the name. Rather, someone decided that muddling sugar and bitters was the height of coolness, and others agreed.

It was what Ryan Gosselin drank in that movie. The Old Fashioned

Big in Vancouver, Seattle and Portland too.

Wait ... so people who enjoy a good product are snobs? You're kiddin', right?

Demand is so high it's impossible to find. If not already, I recommend you give Willett Pot Still Reserve a go. Priced under $40.00 it's a great value

Have you tried rye? If not, you should. I like Bulleit Rye

I'm a big fan of the old fashioned, including traditional and many of the variations. There's a place out in Napa that makes a fabulous honey old fashioned which I'm still working to replicate.

Yes. I don't see anything special about it. I assume it was in obscurity for 30 years for a reason

Corn is cheaper than Rye. Before Prohibition Rye was the drink.

Resurrgence, currrent demand created by talented mixologist and their craft cocktails as well as the renewed interest in classic / timeless cocktails i.e., sazerac, manhattan, old fashioned, sidecar, negroni, ...

Damn government and do gooders really hurt the quality of booze in America for a long time. I'm glad to see the craft stuff finally coming back.

Of course I"m not kidding. They have online forums for that shit. Muh Fuhs getting SMS alerts when Pappy is available anywhere within a 50 mile radius.

I'll give it a try. The Pappy Van Winkle was real real good bourbon. I don't know if it's worth being on a specialized forum for, but it was real damn good.

Whatever his name is, that pretty mother focker married to Eva Mendes.

Ryan Gosling, I didn't want to have to google his name, thanks.
