Matt Campbell is a great coach. I follow them pretty closely just because of Campbell. In our 2017 year when I checked out on UT I started watching them every chance I could because of their shocking win over OU. The guy took a bunch of 2 star players and coached them up and schemed around Oklahoma to the point where they beat one of the best teams in the country. Oklahoma finished that year 12-2 with their other loss being in the Rose Bowl playoff game to UGA 54-48. When have we had a coach that could do that? His teams always beat teams they should not and the guy is doing it at Iowa friggin State.

Last year they were down a bit and finished 7-6 but many of their losses were very close. They lost 18-17 to Iowa, 23-21 to Baylor, 34-27 to OSU, and 42-41 to Oklahoma. They beat Texas last year and didn't lose any games by blowout except a 24 point loss to Notre Dame in the bowl.

This year they are 5-2. 3 point loss to OSU and lost to Napier's ULL team. They've beaten Oklahoma again 37-30. They have KSU, Texas, and West Virginia to go. If Oklahoma beats OSU this weekend and Iowa State wins out they will win the Big 12.

Yes, he would, by any objective standard. He has better track record at turning programs around than just about anyone else, and he has SEC head coach experience.

we may not have the same criteria. SEC head coach experience without championships is another way of saying they have already failed to win SEC championships. I'd rather cast a wider net and find the next big name, or a big name, than recycle disgraced names. Keep him on the list, but he never made an SEC championship game and got his school in NCAA trouble.
