Guess I haven't followed this situation close enough. I understand this guy was a good recruiter and would have been a good pick up. But are there not other good options out there?

A day ago he was the absolute best and a future NFL GM hall of famer. Tomorrow he will be just another guy.

"A to Z Sports has learned that Tennessee wanted Thomas to have a typical Director of Player Personnel role. It seems Thomas wanted to run the football program much like an NFL GM, getting autonomy in areas that Phil Fulmer and Jeremy Pruitt weren’t comfortable with giving up. Those areas could include staff hires and staff management, along with all player personnel responsibilities."

Yeah I can't see any football coach agreeing to that.

RockyHill Loves Auburn more than Tennessee.

I didn’t know who this guy was until recently but he seems like a clown if the above is true.

As I said last night, would they not have agreed upon his title/duties before he agreed to come? Seems like a complete shitshow on all sides.

I think AT would be a better fit in the Titans front office. Sounds like he wants a future in the NFL.

It is interesting. I wonder if Thomas knew it was suppose to be schiano and had an understanding with him and Currie what his role would be in the AD.

So I wonder what the offer changed to on the Tennessee side, what were his duties scaled down to?

    To a point.

If Pruitt don't win he ll be the first target.

At that point, the honeymoon with Fulmer riding back in on a white horse post Currie will be forgotten and the tide will turn on Fulmer similar to 08'.

Pruitt and fulmer will get 4 or 5 years, though. This fanbase is not quick on the uptake

I wanted Thomas here and rightfully so.

But it's Pruitt's name in the paper. You hire a guy to be the HFC, you let him captain the ship. If that involves bringing Rush Propst then that ship is now the Titanic, but he's still the captain.

Thomas is needed when your head coach is Ed Orgeron.

No elite coach would ever have a “GM” controlling his program.

Isn't Thomas currently unemployed? You'd think playing hardball wouldn't be his strategy when his fallback option appears to be welfare. I think there is more to this story.
