What happened to the wait and see approach?

I don't think he believes 8 wins is acceptable in the landscape of a 13 game schedule with 6 cream puffs on it. I think he believes Tennessee should never be disappointed when their worst team finishes in the top half of a 14-team conference.

Good point. All I meant by a step back is that in a transition like a coaching change, one result can be an affect to recruiting and roster depth(players leaving, decommitting etc). But you're right, if the current staff yields crappy results then that in itself is hindering progress and if you're not moving forward in this league, you're DOA.
