Seems pretty flimsy to have a solidified position about how good the next guy is gonna be. Are you one of those "You can't keep Tennessee down" people?

Is this a quote from somewhere?

Just my stream of consciousness ramblings.

There is more to the Sunseri hire than that. Sunseri had missed out on the Pitt job twice because of his resume and thought he could spend a couple of average years at Tennessee and be first in line once that job opened up. The problem came when he refused to invest time in adjusting has scheme to our lack of talent and wasn't interested in bringing in assistants that would.

Comparing Jones to Johnny Majors is akin to comparing Everlast with Jordan.

But didn't Johnny also suffer some from the same circle of trust issues?

Just been told that. Don't have a strong memory of his years. He was gone about the time I got to high school and really started caring.

Very late to the party but 9-10 of the OCs in the SEC coach QBs. All the other QB coaches are on staff. So, Tennessee is the ONLY program in the SEC that will not have a QB coach on staff. Go figure.

    Stupid.

This is like the Fulmer regime excusing their lack of a true ST coach, opting instead for a round-robin approach.

Our opponents got a lot of great looks from that nonsense. And this will end the same.

We also only had like 1 special teams TD from 2000-2011.

Figured you all would love this hire. Can guarantee you one thing. We will not go 5 wide on the goaline if this guy is calling plays. Now can we get to the goaline is the question.

    [total offense rank/Scoring rank]
    97- 44th/44th
    98- 46th/49th
    99- 49th/31st

Then the magic happened. Debord and Lyle teamed up. DeBord was 12-34 as HC (00,01: 5-17 with Butch as RB coach; 02,03: 7-17 with Butch as OC).

    00- 107th/112th
    01- 59th/83rd

The dynamic Butch Casserole and the Sun Belt Kid Duo put up some stout #'s together:
    02- 62nd /92nd
    03- 69th/79th

    His second stint at Michigan:
    06- 38th/26th
    07- 68th/63rd

I'd put more up, but that's every season he's had as HC/OC.

How about Phillip his own self. Seems like an appropriate next step.

No. If someone was a friend of his before joining his staff, they didn't stay friends much longer ( look at the great coaching exodus of 79 if you need an example).

Prior to joining Taggart / WKU he was the QB's coach for his HS (Saline)

The search for an OC was just a ruse. It goes back to the "book" Jones keeps he wanted DeBord all along.

When will this be official announced? I'm foolishly holding out hope everybody is wrong about the hire.
