USC really doesn't compete with anyone for in state talent. texas was that way before Charlie strong. Mack brown basically picked who he wanted and that was it. I don't think it's a coincidence that ohio state has had annual top 5 classes basically forever.
LSU recruits as well as anyone in East Texas, the Suckhorns included. The only kids who grow up giving a shit about playing at Texsucks are the ranch white kids whose grandads wanted to suck Darryl Royal's [penis]. The kids who can actually play go to about every other school in the state or leave altogther.
That explains why guys like mother****ing Gerry Faust and Bob Davie have been the coach there. This isn't ****ing 1945.
Texas and Georgia, jobs where the historical success just don't quite match a lot of people's opinions on how great those jobs are
Which has a lot to do with Miami's problems. Let's see what they do with a real head coach at the U now.
Ohio has talent, but there's more of it in the southeast than in the Midwest. And easier to recruit kids to warm weather than cold weather. Osu is a top 10 job, but it's not better than LSU, imo, jmmfo.
Except that state has probably three or four programs held in higher esteem now than Texsucks, plus the raids by OU, LSU, et al.
And the population in that state decreases every year while the deep south grows. Michigan has the same problem.
Not many programs/any? are good at all times. I still think USC and Texas are among the easiest jobs in college football for a good coach.
