You're going to the worst team in the NFL to be a position coach for a coach who is on thin ice. That's not a move that people make of their own volition.

I don't think it's sunshine pumping to think this is at Butch's behest. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is how I'm reading it.

I don't disagree really. but as **TDCVOL** said, it's pretty close to signing day to do this. why not do it 3 weeks ago? maybe if they are good friends he wanted to let him find another job first.

 

If you're really good friends, and it's amicable, you don't do anything 13 days before NSD.

How big of a recruiter is Bajakian? Or is it just the flux of the offense that will (potentially) scare off some offensive players?

 

I'm not sure which would be more off-putting 13 days before NSD - Bajakian's absence.....or presence.

he was a lightning rod. he knew it and Butch knew it. This was preservation for Butch and an easy call.

 

They'll be fine in recruiting. No one is coming here for Mike Bajakian.

 

Actually, I thought about it for a second.

If Azzani takes over, there is already familiarity between him and offensive recruits.

The players Bajakian was the primary recruiter for have already all enrolled. Jennings, Dormady, Jones and Stewart are all in. So losing him and costing a recruit is probably out the window. Him leaving after EE period was what was critical.

If this happened before EE period, I think we lose Jones.

Excellent point. And if true, it greatly helps to explain the timing, if he was forced out.

 

So your position is that after eight years together, Butch and Jake are no longer friends?

 

I don't think the timing will be an issue. I just don't see anyone leaving because of jake.
