Isn't the $4 million what HE would owe if he terminated the contract? That's how I read it.

 

I read it that way too, but I'm not a lawyer.

 

I say we just fire him and let him sue us for the rest of his contract. Have our lawyers drag it out for years so he negotiates a more reasonable pay out.

 

Surely we have cause. This crisp has to be intentional and that has to be contractually impermissible.

Much like we say we don't want to see recruits who are afraid of competition, screw how it looks. If a coach is afraid of expectations, he needs to keep on walking.
