Yup, he's good. Not the big name that immediately gives us back national legitimacy, but a huge upgrade over what we had before(and I'm including Kiffin).

If we give the man a chance I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

In the east Spurrier is the only one better. And I am not sure what he has left in the tank.

Good to see some positivity on this board. Hart is a bumbling idiot, but he may have accidentally stumbled upon a coach with some serious upside. Time will tell however.

Jewy - What are you using to base the decision that Jones out-recruited Strong?

Strong had higher average stars on Rivals every year in the comparison.

I was only referencing that he was ahead as of time he left for class this year. Like I said I wanted Strong bad because guy can recruit Butch was hanging with him however with far less resources.

Be very careful. You do realize this was against high school competition?

Just saying he is ahead as of now this year. Probably little too much sunshine in my statement. But Butch is a solid recruiter. He has done better then Kelly did at Cincy.

And when he played a big boy team, he got beat.

He had high school talent on O. It actually does not work as you suggest.

With little boy talent on his side.

To be fair, so did Brian Kelly.

Because he has only got 8 guys so far. He has a higher average star rating that Jones does right now....or did....at Cincinnati.

Solid recruiter? I'm at a loss. That doesn't happen often. We are in hell.

Will he sell the fact that during his allegedly awesome 2011 season his team got run off the field by one coached by [ddiapos]?

    scoring defense rankings

    2009 (Kelly--Bob Diaco at DC): 25th
    2010: 71st
    2011: 20th
    2012 12th

    2006 (Kelly): 68th
    2007: 102nd
    2008: 93rd
    2009: 14th

Looks like more time under Jones' staff is making players better, not worse, which is certainly an improvement over what we have now. Dip in year one from Kelly, and then consistent improvement. The dip concerns me a little bit, but it could be explained by different systems. Consistent improvement makes me feel better. That's the #1 thing I look for from coaches who have come from lesser schools.
