My wife's family is full of good genes. All the men went to school on athletic or academic scholarships and my wife was an all state soccer goalie and high jumper.

So, I'm banking on those to show up in one of my 3.

Football spring practice starts tonight. I finally get to coach football. Both dad and son and pretty stoked.

My wife didn't play a lick of sports growing up. So, even though my son is built perfectly to be a TE, he couldn't catch a pass unless you stuck it in his facemask. So, it's a hand in the dirt or nothing for him.

Nothing like a bunch of 7 year olds in pads the first time, lol.

My oldest is not very athletic. He's luckily got the brains.

Both my boys are better than I ever was at their age, which is still not going to end up with much success on the athletic side. I’m just happy they love to play sports. They are always up for even practice. One of my assistant coaches in little league was a college football player and is a hs coach of both football and baseball and his kid has no interest in sports and has a terrible attitude. That’s all I care about. That would kill me.

Those huge helmets bouncing around on top of big shoulder pads is awesome.

Coaching 7 and 8 year old football is probably the most fun I've ever had on a field or court, playing or coaching.

What offense and defense are you running

We ain't that far yet. We're doing fundamentals. Oklahoma drill is advanced as we get.

If we do what we did last year we will primarily run a wing I and a 6-2. League rules mandate a 6-2 or a 5-3.

We've got one kid who is all of 4 feet and 80 pounds. And every time he runs the ball he spikes it and it is hysterical. I've said tonight if we get a big lead in a game and he scores, let him spike it. It'll be worth every inch of 15 yards, and if there's a fine, I'll pay it myself.

What’s your blocking rules with the I?

Pretty simple, block the man in front of you. On occasion last year we double teamed a kid if we needed to, but usually it's beat the man in front of you.

What kind of offenses do you see?

    I’d run the single wing.

I'd run the fastest kid at QB runs left and right offense.

That’s why I’d run the 6-2 instead of the 5-3
