Dave McGinnis, former NFL coach that does radio for the Titans now: “The thing that happens a lot is you get a defensive coordinator chasing calls. And what I mean by that is, they’ll try to adjust the next play to try to take care of the play that just hurt them. That’s chasing calls, and if they start chasing calls, then what you can do offensively is set up and layer, or stack, calls. Heupel may run something early on to see how they’ll react. Then knowing they’ll chase that, he’ll have a counter punch off it. It’s very intricate. It may look simple, but there’s a lot to it. But the quarterback has to be able to handle it, and the receivers have to be able to read coverage after the ball is snapped. That’s critical.” From an athletic article https://theathletic.com/3750807/2022/11/02/tennessee-vols-offense-georgia?source=user-shared-article He also said damn near verbatim the same thing on the air Saturday
Pat Narduzzi: “Just man their ass up, it’s what you have to do, our safeties are in man all day anyway, so at least this sort of fits what we do.”
Josh Heupel “Your job as a coach is not to look at what they can’t do. It’s to find out what they can do and then put them in position to do that at a really high level.”
Yes, do that. Pretty sure that is what UK did on the long drive at the end of the first quarter that broke them.
In one text thread, there are 3 ga alumni. Good guys. Fun. Thread has turnt since yesterday. We agreed to meet Sunday to have some drinks and put it all behind us but also agreed it’s on until midnight Saturday. Got ugly last night but all in fun. One said this morning, “we’d never rush the field vs UT”. These ga fans can only remember the last few years. I sent him video of them rushing the field after breaking the 9 game winning streak.
Yeah, I grew up owning Georgia. Their recent run skewed the series. In fact, in 2010, we had a 20-16 lead in the "rivalry". The greatest part of this year has been reminding folks who the [uck fay] we are because a lot of them assumed we are the equivalent of Ole Miss or Arkansas. Uh, no, [itch bay]es. We helped build this damn conference and I'm glad we got the damn infrastructure in place to reassert this fact.
