Selling the clubs. Going to buy a new set of course. Anyone have any suggestions other than putting them on ebay and looking for that one idiot willing to overpay?
The par putt on 12 was the dagger. Tiger holing out from the bunker had that old Tiger feeling. Phil answering it had to deflate the balloon.
I've not ever seen Phil play that well. That round may have beaten pre-divorce Tiger just about anywhere.
Phil's A game has always been as good as it gets. He just usually isn't able to maintain it for a round, much less a tournament. Tiger, in his prime, would bring a solid B+ and just cruise through tournaments.
As high of a level that Tiger reached, he gets in spots now where he questions his swing IMO. If he doesn't find a way to get over that he will just be above average for the rest of his career. Personally I would like to see Phil, Tiger, Dustin, and Bubba grab the spotlight back from the boys across the pond.
Tiger's swing is as good as it's ever been and he's more accurate off the tee than probably ever. I would say that right now Tiger is better tee to green than he's been since at least around 2002, possibly ever. He's constantly switching putters and can't find any consistency with any of the Nike models. He's freaking Tiger Woods. Tell Nike I'm hitting your driver, irons, wedges and wearing your clothes and cleats. I'm putting with my old Scotty Cameron with a Ping grip and that's just how it is. He used it at least once in Abu Dhabi or wherever he was a few weeks ago and it looked like he was using most of the week during the Chevron thing.
I agree to a certain extent on the putter. I think the deeper issue, though, is that he's dealing with what many pros deal with at his age. The confidence in the stroke is lacking. You can tell something is off when he slams a two and a half footer off the left center of the cup. Plus, he's had so many swing changes/thoughts, the short game (read putting) has taken a backseat. Now would continuity work with the Cameron? Probably. But until the confidence comes back, no putter will matter sans a revival by belly putter. But at the age Tiger is getting to, more times than not the confidence doesn't just magically reappear.
Plus one. He is hard to watch. CBS would do better to show clips of the water hazard while he is going through his rituals and then show his shot recorded.
Cold weather golf has never agreed with me. I'm always around a club more in yardages in cold weather, but my head just won't let me go for the seven instead of the eight, the five instead of the six. Shot great, scored terribly.
