Presidents can cry, occasionally and infrequently. Presidential candidates, save the once in a millennia outlier, cannot.

You certainly can't cry when 3/4 of your battle is to overcome the deeply-held, though unspoken, sexism that says that women are too prone to emotionalism to properly govern as President. Or that she was pawing for sympathy. Or that she didn't have the mettle to not cry, even in the face of genuinely tearful tragedy. It would be her death knell, right or wrong.
