Oh it is licentiousness and it is as old as time. That why there were/are rules governing such behavior. You can have less of it or more of it. You will not get rid of all of it.

You can force it through shame into the small corners of society or you can over time loosen the rules and allow some of it into the light and allow it to influence the young. When it is the latter it becomes pervasive.

In a polite society women have always controlled sex. In Weinsteins era ( his coming of age in the 60s and 70s)men would push the issue and it was up to the woman to say no. Watch the movies of that era. The women resist at first and then succumb to the charisma of the man. She then becomes wild and passionate. She never says no.
The Quiet Man is a good movie. You should watch it if you get a chance. Warning. IT IS NOT PC.

If the woman says no then it was to end. It sounds as if he didn't follow that rule either.

Today men have been emasculated in principle. It is unlikely that it has happened in actual practice. But those that crusaded to have college age males crucified and have their due process violated under title IX were not conservatives. If the girl gets drunk at the frat house and wakes up in bed with buyers remorse then its on her.

So much for the sexual revolution. It has begun to devour itself with PC rules. It doesn't bother me that men of power on both sides of the aisle are being found out and punished. That Spacey threw the "gay card" and got rebuffed is refreshing. Hmmm...wonder what happened when Clinton got away with it?

Now lets look at what is going on here. Weinstein is ugly as sin. His only chance was to either bag a gold digger or leverage his power for sex. Now do you think Ashley Judd rebuffs Robert Redford in a similar situation? No, its on and shortly thereafter they get married and we are talking about which marriage it was for both, how long it lasted, how many kids did they have and who he trader her in for. Oh and we would make some joke about robbing the cradle.

Hollywood has the morals of an alley cat yet they are caught up in these scandals. ESPN and the NFL are all about race and the race card is killing them.

    Psalm 58:10
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

    Psalm 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

    Proverbs 17:15
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

    Sounds like our society.

The snares have caught everybody on all sides you dipshit.

This isn’t an issue limited to people’s political leanings, be they liberal, conservative, libertarian, or whatever other political party you wish to divert somebody into so that you can place blame elsewhere.

And I’m pretty sure don’t molest children and don’t sexually harass and/or assault women aren’t modern rules set by left. They’re rules and laws set by society as a whole. To suggest otherwise is disingenuous at best.

Pic is creepy regardless, but even more creepy after the power dynamic that Weinstein exploited became open and public knowledge.

That said, Hollywood knew for a long time and has tolerated these types. Just look at how Polanski isn't just defended but openly celebrated.

Just wanted to pop in to say that any post that uses the word "licentious" or its derivative, is getting a like from me.

Read the Godfather. I know it is fiction, but it is fiction painted with real paints. Jack Woltz, especially in the book, is a pedophile and uses his power to get moms to give him their girls.

Also, I think it is so naively absurd to place any parameters on pedophilia - political, social, locale, industry, religious affiliation, gender, sexuality, etc. - as to surpass even the bounds of stupidity.

And any who would try to twist such a heinous thing toward any belief, bent or point of personal dis/favor, is not to be taken seriously, as they are an asshat.

Yes. Pedophiles love it when they're given cover.

To quote the venerable Ronald MacDonald from the exceptional It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia:

"Guys, I have good news! I've been reading up on the subject of pedophilia. It turns out that it isn't about sex after all. It's about power. So, the assailant doesn't go after the one he finds most attractive, he goes after the weakest he can find."

You are obtuse and I mean to say that in a constructive way. These people are being hung on their own petards. They are hung by the same snares they used on their political enemies. Weinstein and Spacey are leftists. Their fellow travelers used universally unaccepted behavior as a hammer against those on the right. They are immoral people in general. It was a weapon and nothing more. They really didn't care. They were doing the same things. They knew the "rights" constituency and the general public would care. Those on the right were correctly punished if they were really guilty. The left promotes immoral lifestyles. They move the lines. It is the left, liberal and libertarians that do this and not the right.

The wicked have been undone by their own evil. I hope to see more pain on the left for all they have done to destroy traditional American values.

    Psalm 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

    schadenfreude:
    Psalm 58:10

Libertarians don't promote immoral lifestyles... they promote an environment where anyone can be what they want without government, the church or some other centralized authority telling them how to behave.

For every "liberal orgy house" we have a "sharia law" to counter it... and pedophilia is dramatically worse in those oppressive regimes than even in Hollywood. Look up "Bacha Bazi".

Libertarians allow for public expression of immoral activities. That is promotion in my book. What one does in their own home that does not harm another is of no importance to me. I believe in the 4th amendment. There are those on the right who are authoritarian and who would dictate to you what you can do even in your own home. But when you drag things into the public square my tolerance meter gets turned off.

I am not one to invade your domicile. However, keep the porn behind the brown bag, keep prostitution illegal, burn the drug dealer who sells to kids, disallow public use of drugs including pot, and restrict marriage to one man and one woman.
