if there were an award for biggest piece of shit by an elite, The Kennedy's would've won every year. Ted definitely tried to keep the award alive.
In addition, recognizing records from blatant cheaters that also broke the law in the pursuit of cheating and lied their asses off to avoid getting caught doesn't threaten the very integrity of the game? That's worse than anything Rose did, imo.
Rose and George Brett were my first two sports heroes. I now have nothing but contempt for Rose. If he gets in, fine. If he doesn't, I lose no sleep.
Almost everyone was cheating in the steroid era. Rose was the only guy managing games based on his bank account instead of what was best for the team. He can rot in Hell.
I've never lost any sleep over it, and I never will. I just have tremendous respect for the way he played the game. His integrity can certainly be questioned, but I don't think his heart can ever be called into doubt.
I actually agree. However, reality is reality. There are a bunch of the indignant guys from that era who were juicers, cough, cough Atlanta, who act that way because they know there are no samples to bust them. Easy to take the moral high ground when you know there is no evidence of your sins.
