CBS games last 12 hours because of commercials.

CBS games are right there with them. To add insult to injury, we are forced to listen to Verne Lundquist's bumbling fawning ass.

Unless there is evidence for the safety argument, I have to disagree with this rule.

    It's all about YAC

when a team scores the NFL breaks for a commercial, then they kickoff the ball and they break for a commercial again. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the college game does this too.

I get that, but the type of routes they are running generally don't lead to YAC.

If its a safety issue then why does the NCAA only care about player safety for 56 minutes of the game?

I'm with you. I've [itch bay]ed about that often here.

I used to think that about Cutcliffe's routes. Seemed like our guys were always catching the ball stationary.

I suspect that he just told them what he wanted and they said, "Yes Sir" before kissing his ring.

exactly. the vast majority of the routes are 5 yard outs and curls and shit that basically resulted in the guys getting tackled immediately.

that was due to absolutely terrible tackling by a guy with a broken wrist.

I think that became somewhat necessary when Meachem, Swain, and Smith were replaced with a much smaller trio.

To be fair, Meachem was a pretty tough guy to bring down.

agreed, but he wasn't THAT hard to take down.

I think so. He broke the first tackle a bunch. The defense lined up so that one tackle was all he had to break to get 80 yards.
